A Dhaka court on Tuesday ordered the freezing of 10 bank accounts of former director general (DG) of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Md Harun Ar Rashid, and his wife, Fatema Pervin Luna, over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order following a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to the petition, investigations are underway against Harun over allegations of acquiring illegal assets worth Tk1,000 crore and money laundering.

The ACC stated that the accused and his wife were attempting to transfer, relocate, or dispose of their movable assets.

If these assets are transferred or moved, there is a strong possibility of significant loss to the state. Therefore, it is necessary to freeze the assets, the ACC said in its petition.
