Newly elected lawmaker Nurul Amin of the Chattogram-1 (Mirsharai) constituency was injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway while returning from Cumilla on Tuesday afternoon.

He was initially rushed to a private hospital in Mirsharai upazila and later shifted to a hospital in Chattogram city.

BNP Bariyarhat Municipality unit former convener Didarul Alam Miyaji said that lawmaker Nurul Amin went to Cumilla in the morning for business purposes.

On his way back, the car carrying him hit the median while trying to avoid another car in the Mohammad Ali area under Feni district around 3pm.

The lawmaker was rushed to Comfort Hospital in Bariyarhat Municipality under Mirsharai and given primary treatment there.

He was later sent to Chattogram city for better treatment and admitted to Imperial Hospital.

Nizam Uddin, chairman of Comfort Hospital, said, “MP Nurul Amin was brought to our hospital around 3:40pm. The on-duty doctors provided him with first aid.” He suffered injuries to his face, head, and waist, Nizam added.
