An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale jolted several parts of the country, including the capital Dhaka, on Friday afternoon.
The tremor was felt at around 1:52pm, according to data from the earthquake monitoring service “My Earthquake Alert.”
The epicenter was located in Ashashuni upazila of Satkhira district, where residents reported strong shaking.
In Satkhira, many worshippers who had gone to mosques for Friday prayers rushed out in panic as the tremors struck. The quake was also felt in different districts, causing brief alarm among residents.
However, no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage were available at the time of filing this report.
