Dr. Asif Nazrul, Adviser to Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, announced that the names of prisoners involved in the July Uprising will be officially documented and preserved in July Memorial Museum.

He made the statement at a program titled “Recalling July Prisoners”, organized by the ministry and held at Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad Auditorium of Bangla Academy.

Nazrul emphasized that the spirit of unity during the uprising transcended religion, caste, political belief or ethnicity.

“We stood together against injustice as human beings. The uprising was not meant to create division but to unite in the face of oppression,” he said.

He expressed concern over efforts to distort the history of the movement.

“Unfortunately, after the uprising, some have tried to divide us by spreading misinformation. But mutual respect among the forces of the uprising existed before and must be upheld,” he added.

Nazrul also stressed the importance of remembering the martyrs and injured from the uprising; “Our duty is to ensure they are never forgotten.”

Leaders from various political groups, including Jatiya Nagorik Party’s Akhtar Hossain, AB Party Chairman Mujibur Rahman Manju Bhuiyan, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar and Gano Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur, also addressed the event.
