Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus is set to embark on a three-day official visit to Malaysia on Monday, August 11, at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
During the visit, a high-level bilateral meeting between Dr. Yunus and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will take place on Tuesday in Putrajaya. The two leaders are expected to engage in discussions covering a wide range of bilateral and regional issues.
As part of the visit, the two countries are expected to sign five Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and exchange three Notes of Cooperation in sectors including defense, energy, and halal food, among others.
Key topics on the agenda include resolving complications related to the recruitment of Bangladeshi workers to Malaysia, cooperation in defense, energy, trade and commerce, higher education, the Rohingya crisis, agriculture, blue economy, and broader collaboration in ASEAN and international forums.
This visit comes nearly a year after Dr. Yunus assumed power as the head of the interim government following the fall of the Awami League administration on August 5, 2024. Notably, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim visited Dhaka in October last year, marking the first visit by a foreign head of government under the interim administration.
