Bangladesh’s Under-15 boys’ team lifted the Women’s Challenge Cup title with a dramatic Super Over win against the Bangladesh Women’s Green team on Tuesday, sealing the championship unbeaten after four straight victories.

Chasing 186, the Green team levelled the scores in regulation play but faltered in the tiebreaker, managing only four runs in their allotted six balls. U-15 skipper Baizid Bostami finished the contest in style, clearing the boundary with a six off the second delivery to secure the crown.

Earlier, after winning the toss and batting first at the Sylhet venue, the Under-15s recovered from early trouble to post 185 for six in their 50 overs. The top order collapsed to 40 for five under pressure from Nahida Akter, Rabeya Khan and 17-year-old off-spinner Nishita Akter, who shared the early wickets.

From that precarious position, Afridi Tariq and Afzal Hossain rebuilt the innings with a vital 98-run sixth-wicket stand. Afridi struck 50 off 83 balls before his dismissal, while Afzal anchored the innings with an unbeaten 67 from 103 deliveries, featuring three fours and a six. He received late support from Pranab Mondol, who remained 24 not out off 18 balls.

In reply, the Green team’s chase was dented by the early loss of veteran batter Farzana Hoque Pinky. A 56-run stand between Sharmin Supta (36 off 56) and Rubya Haider Jhilk (33 off 60) revived hopes, but quick wickets — including Sobhana Mostary and Taj Nehar — stalled momentum.

Nahida Akter (21 off 26) and Swarna Akter offered resistance, while lower-order runs from Farzana Yasmin (14 off 36) and Rabeya Khan (13 off 20) kept the chase alive. With five needed off the final over, the Green team fell agonisingly short. Rabeya was dismissed on the third ball, and although Sultana Khatun added two runs, a last-ball stumping tied the scores.

Afridi Tariq, who made a half-century and then claimed three for 23 with the ball, was named player of the match.
