The government has once again reaffirmed, in the strongest terms that the national election must be held on schedule in the first half of February next year.
This is the solemn commitment of the interim government, said the statement of the government floated for the media on Saturday, following the country’s evolving political situation.
“All conspiracies, obstructions or attempts to delay or derail the election will be firmly resisted by the government and our democracy-loving patriotic people,” it said.
“The people’s will must prevail and no evil force will be allowed to undermine our march to democracy,” added the statement.
