The Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) has recommended punitive action against 245 heads of educational institutions for submitting false vacancy demands in the sixth public circular.

According to the recommendation, the monthly pay order (MPO) facility of the accused heads may be suspended for up to three months.

A source at the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) told the media that despite repeated instructions, many institution heads failed to submit accurate information about vacant posts. As a result, several eligible candidates could not be recommended, creating widespread complications.

“The responsibility lies with the institution heads, and they will have to bear the consequences,” the official said on condition of anonymity.

The NTRCA letter stated that during the recruitment process, data on entry-level teacher vacancies was collected online. However, many institutions provided incorrect information, leading to the cancellation of 401 vacant posts across 245 institutions. These cancellations were communicated late, after candidates had already applied, resulting in further chaos in the recruitment process.

The DSHE source added that the MPO suspension could vary from case to case. “In line with the policy, the MPO facility for three months may be withheld, though in some cases the suspension could be shorter. The final decision on how many heads will face action has not yet been made,” the source confirmed.

The NTRCA earlier directed that necessary measures be taken against the concerned institution heads and governing body members as per the manpower structure and MPO policy to prevent such irregularities in future recruitment cycles.
