Civil society members and academics, during a dialogue with the Election Commission (EC) in Dhaka, stressed the importance of ensuring security for all to facilitate a free and fair 13th parliamentary election.
Held at the EC Building in Agargaon, the discussion focused on the need for transparent vote-counting and active media cooperation to prevent misinformation and uphold democratic integrity.
Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin, election commissioners, and senior EC officials were present.
In two sessions, 13 civil society representatives—including former adviser Begum Rasheda K Choudhury—and 15 academicians—including Dhaka University VC Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan—urged the EC to fully implement its legal framework and election work plan.
