Afghanistan posted a competitive total of 151 runs in their allotted 20 overs at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday, with the hosts opting to bat first after winning the toss.

Wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz led the scoring with a steady 40 off 31 balls, while experienced all-rounder Mohammad Nabi provided strong support, striking 38 from just 25 deliveries.

Bangladesh’s bowlers shared the workload effectively.

Young pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib and leg-spinner Rishad Hossain were the pick of the attack, claiming two wickets apiece to keep Afghanistan in check. Taskin Ahmed, Nasum Ahmed, and Mustafizur Rahman chipped in with one wicket each, ensuring the Afghans did not run away with the game.

With 152 runs required for victory, Bangladesh now face a testing chase under lights in Sharjah, aiming for a strong start to the series.
