Customs intelligence officials have arrested a  lady gold smuggler along with 72 vori of gold from Benapole International Customs Checkpost area while smuggling into India on yesterday (Wednesday) noon.

The arrestee was identified as Ummesalma 25 wife of Rabbi Chowdhury at Damra of Dhaka .

Moniruzaman Chowdhury , Assistent Director, Benapole Custom Intelligent said , On receiving secret information that a Bangladeshi woman was smuggling a large amount of gold to India by passport

A team of Benapole customs intelligent raided the International Customs Checkpost area and arrested a female passport passenger.

Later the intelligent team searched her body and seized 72 Vori. Customs officials said that the value of the seized gold is Tk 55 lakh.

The seized Gold has deposited to  Benapole Customs House. A case has been filed with Benapole Port Police Station.
