Govt removes 53 names from “July fighters” list

The government has removed 53 individuals from the official list of “July fighters” previously published in official gazette, citing complaints and irregularities.

A notification from Liberation War Ministry issued on Monday stated that all 53 individuals, whose status as “July fighters” has been revoked, were from Rangpur Division.

Earlier, on August 3, eight people from different regions of the country had lost their “July fighter” status following verification that revealed discrepancies in their claims.

According to official records, Bangladesh has a total of 13,800 recognized “July fighters,” including 836 who were martyred.
