Earthquake jolts Dhaka again

A mild earthquake jolted Dhaka again at 6:06 PM on Saturday,marking the second seismic event reported in the region within the same day.

The tremor was widely felt across areas including Gulshan, Banani, Dhanmondi, Mohammadpur, and Mirpur. Many people rushed outdoors as buildings swayed momentarily. As of now, no damage to property or injuries have so far been reported.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported that the earthquake measured 3.7 on the Richter scale, with a shallow depth of just 10 kilometers below the surface.

Earlier on Saturday, at 10:36 AM, a light earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale was recorded in Palash, Narsingdi. That event caused no noticeable impact.

Authorities advise the public to stay calm during quakes, take cover under sturdy furniture, and avoid using elevators during shaking.
