Llawyer ZI Khan Panna has publicly announced that he will not represent former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in court.

In a video message posted on his verified Facebook page on Thursday, Panna stated, “I will not appear on behalf of Sheikh Hasina in a judicial system she herself does not trust. I am conveying this decision directly to her through this message.”

He noted that he has not yet received an official appointment letter from the state assigning him as her legal counsel. “Once that letter is received, I will formally submit my resignation,” he said.

Panna clarified that he will, however, take up other legal cases. He confirmed he will represent Advocate Fazlur Rahman, his friend and colleague, in an ongoing case recently filed against him.

Additionally, he announced he will provide legal representation to Sajib Wazed Joy and Saima Wazed Putul, who were recently convicted in a case brought by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

“I will stand by them and ensure their rights are protected under the law,” Panna said.

The statement comes amid heightened legal developments following the controversial death sentence handed to Sheikh Hasina in a crimes against humanity case, a verdict widely disputed by her party and allies.

A respected constitutional expert and former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, ZI Khan Panna is known for his independent legal stance and commitment to judicial principles.

His decision not to represent the former PM underscores growing questions about legal representation and due process in high-profile political cases.
