Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast that a low-pressure area may form in the northwest Bay of Bengal within the next 48 hours.
Meteorologist Shahnaz Sultana said on Tuesday, ”A low-pressure system has been predicted to form within 48 hours, but it is unlikely to have a significant impact. However, the low may prompt rain, which could ease the scorching heat.”
In its regular weather bulletin, the BMD says the axis of the monsoon runs through Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across the northern parts of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to the north Bay of Bengal.
In the 24 hours from 9AM on Tuesday, the forecast expects light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds in many places in the Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, some places in the Rajshahi and Chittagong divisions and one or two places in the Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions.
