Addressing the 42nd anniversary ceremony of the Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association in Dhaka on Thursday evening, Commissioner Sajjad Ali stressed the need for collective efforts to make the next general election credible and widely accepted.
“All stakeholders must work together to ensure that the upcoming national election is free from manipulation and fear, and reflects the true will of the people,” he said.
He further said that the DMP has already begun detailed preparations to support a secure and orderly electoral process. Special emphasis is being placed on ensuring that voters can cast their ballots freely and safely, without intimidation or obstruction.
“The next general election is expected to be held in February 2026, as announced by the Chief Adviser,” he noted. “In anticipation of this, the police are proactively working to create a conducive environment for a peaceful and transparent poll.”
The commissioner reiterated the police force’s commitment to maintaining neutrality, upholding the rule of law, and providing impartial security during the election period. He also mentioned ongoing coordination with the Election Commission, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive logistical and operational readiness.
Sajjad Ali called upon political parties, civil society, media, and the general public to contribute to a peaceful electoral atmosphere.
