Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin said trade facilitation would be ensured through identifying and removing unnecessary trade-related regulations and reviewing trade governing rules and regulations.
Bashir made the observation while presiding over the ninth meeting of the National Trade Facilitation Committee (NTFC), organised by the Ministry of Commerce, held on Monday at the BIAM Foundation Multipurpose Hall in the capital on Monday.
He said, “Through trade facilitation, we’ll establish justice and create a level-playing field, which will increase both the volume of our trade and our economic capacity.”
The Adviser further said, “We want an efficient trade regime, through which significant development will take place in our national economy and will also serve as a major platform for equitable distribution of resources.”
Citing a press release of the Commerce Ministry, Bashir said the government certainly wants to reduce tax evasion alongside fostering efficiency.
“Mentioning that automation in customs operations is underway,” he said, adding it would make imports and exports easier.
The meeting was attended by National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Md Abdur Rahman Khan; Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman; Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission Chairman Dr Moinul Khan; Executive Chairman of the National Skills Development Authority Dr Nazneen Kawsar; FBCCI Administrator Md Hafizur Rahman; EPB Vice-Chairman Md.
