Bangladesh national football team, along with coaching staff, officials and accompanying journalists, has returned safely to Dhaka from Nepal aboard a special Bangladesh Air Force flight, following days of uncertainty caused by political unrest in the Himalayan nation.

The flight landed at Bir Uttam AK Khandakar Air Base in Kurmitola at approximately 4:40 PM on Thursday, according to Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF).
The team had travelled to Nepal during FIFA international break to play two friendly matches. While the first match ended in a goalless draw, the second was cancelled due to escalating political tensions in Nepal.

As the situation worsened, and with international flights suspended, Bangladesh contingent found themselves stranded and confined to their hotel.

The crisis intensified when protesters staged demonstrations outside the hotel, setting fires and attempting to storm the premises amid reports that fugitive political figures were sheltering inside.

This led to a heightened state of anxiety among the players and staff.Once conditions stabilized slightly on Wednesday, efforts to repatriate the team began.

With support from Bangladesh government, Ministry of Youth and Sports and Bangladesh Air Force, arrangements were made to bring the delegation home.
Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu resumed limited operations on Wednesday and the team departed Nepal Thursday morning.
Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Nepal, Shafiqur Rahman, along with officials from Bangladesh Embassy, were present at the airport to ensure the safe departure of all team members and journalists.

The repatriation was coordinated jointly by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, BFF and other government bodies.
The special flight was arranged at the request of Chief Adviser’s Office and Ministry of Youth and Sports, with Air Force stepping in to execute the mission.
