Speaking as the chief guest at the closing session of the two-day international conference on “Future of Business: Innovation, Technology and Sustainable Development”, organized by the Bureau of Business Research of Chattogram University at Hotel Radisson Blu yesterday, Bashir highlighted the government’s efforts to stabilize the supply chain during the last Ramadan, which helped keep the prices of essential goods low, according to a PID release on Saturday.
The adviser noted that, despite a shortage of raw materials for domestic production, students could play a significant role in boosting production by acquiring agriculture-based knowledge.
Referring to the period following the mass uprising, Sheikh Bashir acknowledged the challenges of restoring market stability, as many members of so-called syndicates had fled abroad. “Through collective efforts, we were able to overcome that situation,” he said.
The conference was attended by Chattogram University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yeahia Akhter, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Mohammad Shamim Uddin Khan, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration Professor Dr. Mohammad Taiyub Chowdhury, University Grants Commission Member Professor Mohammad Ayub Islam, and Sonali Bank PLC Chairman Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury.
Later, the commerce adviser presented crests to individuals and institutions in recognition of their special contributions to business and commerce.
