Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has introduced a new party logo, the first change in nine years. The updated design was spotted on Sunday during a meeting between Jamaat Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman and the Spanish ambassador in Dhaka, where the new emblem appeared on a party flag and wall backdrop.
The logo features a green flag with a rising sun placed over an open book, topped by a pen. The pen is depicted as the scale beam of the party’s traditional electoral symbol, the balance. A semi-circular arch emerges from both ends of the book, symbolizing a gateway.
Jamaat last altered its logo in 2016, replacing a dome design inscribed with the word “Allah” and the party’s balance symbol. At that time, the party briefly used a red-green rectangular design resembling the national flag, with “Bangladesh” written in red at the top and “Jamaat-e-Islami” in green below.
However, the change was never formally announced, and various versions of the emblem continued to appear in party programs, banners, and press statements.
Party leaders have confirmed that Sunday’s design has also not been officially declared. They said discussions were underway within the party’s executive council, and an announcement may follow due to increasing public attention on social media.
Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim told local media that several logo drafts had been prepared, but no final decision had been made. “The executive council has discussed it. Once a design is finalized, it will be officially announced,” he said.
