Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) has declared its intention to field strong candidates in every constituency in the upcoming national election, while demanding ‘shapla’ as its electoral symbol.

At a district coordination meeting held in Mymensingh on Tuesday, NCP Northern Chief Organizer Sarjis Alam said the party is gearing up for a full-scale electoral battle, driven by grassroots organizational strength rather than financial influence.

“NCP will nominate capable and committed candidates in all constituencies. Our focus is on building strong units from districts to wards, not on money-based politics,” he said.

Alam also took aim at Election Commission (EC), warning that depriving any registered party of its symbol undermines the integrity of the electoral process.
“If EC denies a party its symbol without legal basis, it cannot be expected to hold a free, fair and impartial election. No credible election is possible under such conditions,” he stated.

Reiterating NCP’s demand for ‘shapla’ symbol, Alam said there is no legal bar to granting it and the party will contest under that symbol.
“We will legally and politically challenge any arbitrary or unlawful action by the Commission,” he warned.
Highlighting NCP’s long-term vision, Alam said the party seeks to play a pivotal role in ensuring a stable and balanced parliament.
He emphasized NCP’s commitment to youth empowerment, education, healthcare and anti-corruption reforms.
“We want to build a future-focused Bangladesh and our agenda reflects that,” he added.
Alam also noted that NCP is open to strategic alliances with like-minded parties that prioritize public interest and structural reform.

The meeting was presided over by NCP Mymensingh District Chief Coordinator Advocate Javed Rasin and attended by senior leaders, including Divisional Organizational Secretary Ashiqun Alam, Northern Organizer Pritam Sohag and Central Committee Member Fahim Rahman Khan Pathan.
The leaders called on party activists to intensify campaign preparations and uphold NCP’s values of accountability and grassroots empowerment ahead of the national polls.
