Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Bulgaria Shahnaz Gazi presented her Letters of Credence to Rumen Radev, president of the Republic of Bulgaria, in an official ceremony held at the Presidency building in Sofia on Friday (17 Oct).

The ceremony was conducted with full state honours, including Guards of Honour and the playing of both national anthems, reflecting the warm and respectful diplomatic relations between the two countries, Bangladesh Embassy in Bulgaria said in a Facebook post.

Following the presentation, President Radev received Ambassador Gazi in audience and expressed Bulgaria’s keen interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation with Bangladesh.

Gazi conveyed the greetings of Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, which were warmly received and reciprocated by the Bulgarian leader.

During the discussion, both sides identified potential areas of collaboration — including trade, education, technology, cultural exchange, and climate action — and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral ties.

Ambassador Gazi noted Bulgaria’s historic role as one of the first countries to recognise Bangladesh after independence in 1971 and expressed her resolve to deepen the friendship between the two nations.

The day concluded with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier in Sofia, honouring Bulgaria’s fallen heroes.
