Officials said on Sunday that the date for Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2026 will be announced after the schedule of upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election is finalized.

The decision came at a meeting between the Director General of Bangla Academy and a delegation from Bangladesh Book Publishers and Sellers Association held on Sunday (November 2) evening at 6:30 PM, according to a statement issued by the academy.

During the meeting, participants discussed several potential timeframes for the country’s largest annual literary event. The publishers’ association presented a set of proposals, while the academy also reviewed recommendations from national security agencies.

Considering overall circumstances, the proposal to hold the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2026 in February—shortly after the upcoming national election—was deemed the most feasible. The final date will be announced once the election schedule is confirmed.

The Bangla Academy added that it remains in regular contact with higher government authorities and other relevant bodies to ensure smooth arrangements for the 2026 fair.
