Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) organized a procession on campus on Monday following the International Crimes Tribunal’s verdict awarding death penalty to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a case related to crimes against humanity.
The procession, which began at Teachers and Students’ Centre (TSC) and concluded in front of DUCSU building, was led by elected DUCSU representatives alongside general students.
During the march, participants reportedly chanted slogans referring to the tribunal’s verdict.
Mosaddek Ali Ibn Mohammad, DUCSU’s Literary and Cultural Secretary, distributed sweets at TSC during the event.
He described the verdict as a measure of justice and stated that a fuller realization of justice, in his view, would follow with political action against Awami League. He also called on the government to ensure execution of the sentence.
DUCSU Transport Secretary Asif Abdullah claimed the country had suffered under misrule for seventeen years and described the tribunal’s ruling as a form of justice.
He emphasized the need for swift enforcement of the verdict, asserting that public vigilance would be necessary to ensure compliance.
