The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has officially launched the first phase of its e-Service Management System, marking a major step toward digitalising public service delivery and making its services widely accessible online.

BSTI, the sole government authority responsible for establishing national standards and monitoring product quality in Bangladesh, operates as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Industries.

Md Nuruzzaman, acting Secretary of the Ministry of Industries, inaugurated the new system as the chief guest on Wednesday (19 November) at BSTI’s Tejgaon headquarters. BSTI Director General SM Ferdous Alam presided over the ceremony.

Fuad M Khalid, Deputy Chief of the US-funded Bangladesh Trade Facilitation (BTF) Project, Al-Ashraful Kabir Jewel, Managing Director of Orange BD Limited, and senior officials from both BSTI and the Ministry of Industries were also present at the event.

The project, implemented with BTF’s financial support and technical assistance from Orange Business Development Limited, represents a milestone in BSTI’s digital transformation.

The Director General thanked Orange BD Limited for its role in successfully developing the platform under BSTI’s oversight.

In the initial phase, the system enables users to access the CM Mandatory Product License and e-commerce (BDS sales) services entirely online. Customers can now apply for these services and complete all associated processes—including application verification, inspections, sample collection, fee payments, and license issuance—remotely from anywhere in the world via eservice.bsti.gov.bd.

Additionally, BDS purchases can be completed online globally through ec.eservice.bsti.gov.bd, expanding BSTI’s reach and convenience for businesses and consumers alike.

Other phases of the system will integrate additional services, including Metrology Licenses, MSC Licenses, chemical and physical laboratory testing, and administrative services, further consolidating BSTI’s transition into a fully digital, service-oriented organisation.
