The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will host a “tea-meeting” with clubs participating in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) next week at The Westin Dhaka. The meeting aims to strengthen dialogue and chart the future of domestic cricket in the country.
All club presidents and general secretaries have been invited, with the BCB stressing the importance of their attendance and input for constructive discussions. In a letter signed by BCB President Md. Amirul Islam, the board highlighted the need for collaboration to promote cricket development, ensure player welfare, and improve administrative support.
Key topics will include club management, player welfare, and long-term strategies to raise domestic cricket standards. The meeting will also provide a platform for addressing challenges and sharing ideas to nurture talent for the national team. The BCB hopes the event will strengthen ties with affiliated clubs and secure the DPL’s role as a foundation for Bangladesh’s cricketing future.
Following recent BCB elections, 43 Dhaka clubs announced a boycott unless their concerns were addressed. This led to the postponement of the Dhaka First Division Cricket League, originally scheduled for 18 November, after rebel clubs refused to participate.
The Cricketers’ Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) has been mediating between the BCB and rebel clubs. On 20 November, CWAB representatives met BCB President Bulbul and officials to seek a resolution.
Another meeting on 29 November will involve all 76 clubs under the CCDM, alongside BCB and CWAB representatives, aiming to reconcile differences and protect the future of domestic cricket.
