Bangladesh’s dream of winning the Asia Cup Rising Stars trophy for the second time ended in heartbreak as they lost in a tense super over to Pakistan Shaheens at West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha, Qatar on Sunday.
The final was a thrilling contest from start to finish. Chasing a competitive total set by Pakistan Shaheens, Bangladesh fought hard throughout the match.
Their lower-order batsmen, particularly Abdul Gaffar Saqlain and Ripon Mondol, staged a crucial 29-run partnership for the last wicket, leveling the scores and forcing the game into a super over.
In super over Bangladesh scored six runs in three balls and lost both wickets. However, Pakistan Shaheens held their nerve, edging out Bangladesh to claim the trophy.
