The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has announced that it generated over Tk4 crore in revenue from the three Asian Cup Qualifier home matches against Singapore, Hong Kong, China and India — all of which drew capacity crowds and strong sponsorship support.

However, despite the first of these fixtures taking place more than six months ago, the federation has yet to finalise or release the corresponding expenditure details.

Following Wednesday’s executive committee meeting, BFF Media Committee Chairman Amirul Islam Babu disclosed the income figures while acknowledging that the accounts remain incomplete.

“The Bangladesh-Singapore match generated Tk1 crore 15 lakh. The Bangladesh Hong Kong, China match brought Tk1 crore 2 lakh 7 thousand 874. The Bangladesh-India match generated Tk1 crore 88 lakh. There may be additional costs that will be disclosed later. We have instructed the officials to prepare the final expenditure details,” Babu said.

When asked why the expenditure breakdown was still unavailable after several months, he responded, “Work on the expenditure account is ongoing. You asked for the income details, so I shared that.”

The manager of the women’s team initially informed the reporters only about ticket revenue but later clarified that the figures include all income sources after being pressed further.

BFF recently replaced its chief financial officer, and the new official has been tasked with simplifying the accounting system. According to meeting sources, the CFO received the expenditure documents for the India match only this week, which is why the full report could not be presented. Babu also did not mention income from the two pre-qualifier friendlies against Nepal and Bhutan.

Meanwhile, the National Sports Council has allocated eight stadiums to BFF, and the federation has decided to prioritise the Sylhet District Stadium for hosting international fixtures.

“We have decided in today’s meeting that we want to make Sylhet Stadium suitable for hosting international matches. We will seek full support from FIFA for this,” Babu said. Gazipur Stadium has been identified as the second priority, though BFF intends to use all NSC-allocated venues.

When asked about other issues — including the women’s football league, unpaid player dues and the FIFA-funded technical centre project in Cox’s Bazar — Babu said these matters did not come up due to time constraints.
