The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has announced a preliminary squad for the inaugural SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship, scheduled to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, in January 2026.

Former Bangladesh women’s football team skipper Sabina Khatun has been named captain of the 18-member squad.

The squad also includes several former national players, namely Krishna Rani Sarkar, Masura Parvin, Nilufa Yesmin Nila, Matsushima Sumaya, Marzia, and Mishrat Jahan Mousumi.

Sabina, Krishna, Masura, and Sumaya were part of the Bangladesh team that won the SAFF Women’s Championship 2024, with Sabina leading the side to the title. However, since that triumph, none of the four players have featured for the national women’s football team after being among 18 players who revolted against head coach Peter Butler.

The inaugural SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship will be held from January 13 to 25, with all seven South Asian nations competing in a round-robin format.

Bangladesh will begin their campaign against India on January 15, before facing Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Maldives on January 17, 19, 21, 23, and 25 respectively. The team finishing top of the points table will be crowned champions.
