The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has said that a large number of police personnel, along with one thousand body-worn cameras, have been deployed in the capital for janaza of Inqilab Moncho leader Sharif Osman Hadi.
Muhammad Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner of the Media and Public Relations Division of the DMP, said the decision was taken to ensure enhanced security around Osman Hadi’s janaza and to assess the effectiveness of body-worn cameras at the field level.
He said, “There is no security threat. Body-worn cameras are essentially becoming part of our regular equipment. That is why it is necessary to evaluate their effectiveness so that we can centrally monitor field-level operations.”
According to information provided by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing, the janaza of Osman Hadi will be held at 2:00pm at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) complex.
After the janaza, his body will be taken to Dhaka University. Osman Hadi will be laid to rest beside the grave of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam at the Dhaka University Central Mosque.
