Police have stated that they do not yet have specific or confirmed information on the whereabouts of Faisal, the suspected killer of Inqilab Maocho convener Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi.
Speaking at an emergency press conference at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday (December 21), Additional Inspector General of Police Khandaker Rafiqul Islam said law enforcement and intelligence agencies were working to determine Faisal’s last known location.
He noted that there was no reliable information confirming that the suspect had fled the country and cautioned that misleading claims about suspects’ movements often circulate after high-profile crimes.
Responding to questions about whether the killing was politically motivated or linked to any political party, Rafiqul Islam said investigators had not yet found evidence implicating any specific political group.
He added that efforts were ongoing to establish accurate and verifiable information.
DB chief Shafiqul Islam said the preliminary assessment suggested the killing may have been politically motivated, while investigators found no indication of a personal motive at this stage.
He said police had been actively engaged from the outset and that all relevant agencies were working in coordination. The case, he added, was being treated with the highest priority, with all possible angles under close scrutiny.
