Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar on Sunday said the clean, honest and principled life of Sharif Osman Hadi has deeply inspired people from all walks of life across the country.

“He left this world with his head held high as a martyr. He was indeed fortunate,” Parwar said, describing Osman Hadi as an “undaunted revolutionary fighter of July,” while addressing a doa mahfil.

The doa mahfil was organised by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on the occasion of the shahadat of Sharif Osman Hadi at Al-Falah Auditorium in Moghbazar of the capital this morning.

Mia Golam Parwar presided over the programme, which was conducted by Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim.

Parwar said after Osman Hadi’s death, people across the country got the opportunity to hear many of his speeches through television channels and other media outlets.

“In his speeches, we repeatedly saw him longing for martyrdom. Almighty Allah has fulfilled that desire. We believe his life in this world and the hereafter has become meaningful,” he said.

Recalling the unprecedented public response, Parwar said millions of people, including the head of the government, advisers and political leaders, joined Osman Hadi’s namaj-e-janaza Saturday, calling it a rare and historic event.

“Allah has honoured him with an extraordinary status in this world, and we hope He will grant him the highest rank in the hereafter as well,” he said, praying for patience for the bereaved family.

He demanded the immediate arrest of those involved and their prosecution under the law.

Expressing solidarity with Inqilab Moncho’s ultimatum to arrest the killers within 24 hours, Parwar called upon the government to make its position clear before the nation and to fulfil the commitment made by the chief adviser at the janaza.

He further said Osman Hadi dreamt of building an independent, sovereign, just and equitable Bangladesh free from domination, and called upon all citizens to unite in realising that dream.

Among others, Assistant Secretaries General Maulana ATM Masum and Maulana Abdul Halim, Central Executive Council member Saiful Alam Khan Milon, Dhaka South Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul, Dhaka North Ameer Mohammad Selim Uddin, Central Working Committee member Advocate Jasim Uddin Sarkar, and Osman Hadi’s elder brother Omar bin Hadi spoke at the programme.

Omar bin Hadi, in an emotional address, recalled his brother’s unwavering faith.

“He used to say, ‘Allah will protect me. My security is in Allah’s hands. Allah will protect our family and the 180 million people of this country,’” he said.

He added that Osman Hadi embraced shahadat for the dream of freeing the country from oppression and exploitation.

“My brother has attained martyrdom. Now it is our collective responsibility to fulfil the dream he cherished and to complete his unfinished revolution,” he said, seeking prayers from the nation for his family.

The programme concluded with a doa and munajat led by Mia Golam Parwar, seeking Allah’s acceptance of Osman Hadi’s shahadat and granting of the highest honour to him in the hereafter.
