BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on Monday visited the party’s central office in Nayapaltan for the first time after more than 17 years abroad.

His visit drew a massive turnout of party leaders and activists who lined the streets to welcome him.

Tarique Rahman arrived at the BNP central office around 4:00pm on Monday (29 December), travelling from his Gulshan residence.

Thousands of BNP leaders and activists gathered on both sides of the road, chanting slogans and greeting him as he made his way to the office. Senior officials of the party’s central office later formally received him with floral greetings.

The BNP central office was decorated in a festive manner to mark the occasion, while party supporters began assembling in the Nayapaltan area from the morning. The atmosphere was marked by visible enthusiasm and excitement among the leaders and activists.

Security at the central office was tightened, with access restricted and the entire premises placed under the protection of the Chief Security Force (CSF). Law enforcement agencies maintained heightened vigilance across the Nayapaltan area, and earlier in the day, RAB’s dog squad conducted security sweeps in and around the office.

After returning home following a long period in exile, Tarique Rahman on Sunday (28 December) had resumed official duties for the first time at the BNP chairperson’s political office in Gulshan.

His visit to the Nayapaltan headquarters on Monday marked his first participation in organisational activities at the party’s central office since his return.
