The United Nations in Bangladesh on Tuesday expressed its deepest condolences following the demise of three-time former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
“On this sad occasion, the United Nations expresses its deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of the Honorable former Prime Minister and reaffirms its solidarity with the government and people of Bangladesh,” the UN said in a Facebook post.
Khaleda Zia, widely regarded as an uncompromising leader for democracy in Bangladesh, passed away early Tuesday while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
