An ugly on-field brawl, two red cards and a record-breaking scoreline defined a dramatic day in the Bangladesh Women’s Football League as Farashganj Sporting Club crushed Kacharipara Unnayan Sangstha 23–0 at the Bir Sherestha Shaheed Shipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur on Sunday.
The flashpoint came in the 21st minute when Sabitri Tripura fouled Monika Chakma from behind. The referee did not initially blow the whistle, triggering a furious reaction from Monika. The Farashganj midfielder grabbed Sabitri, and within moments both players fell to the turf as several others rushed in, escalating the situation. Tohura Khatun and Maria Mandar were also involved as tempers flared.
After lengthy deliberations, the referee produced red cards in the 28th minute. Monika Chakma was sent off, while Kacharipara Unnayan Sangstha’s Sheikh Samia Akter was initially shown red before the decision was later changed in favour of Sabitri Tripura. Farashganj captain Maria Mandara was booked yellow card. Kacharipara players protested strongly, remaining in the dugout area for a prolonged period.
Following a 15-minute stoppage, play eventually resumed. From there, it was a one-way contest. Farashganj completely dominated Kacharipara, netting eight goals in the first half and adding fifteen more in the second, completing a historic 23–0 victory — the biggest winning margin ever recorded in Bangladesh’s women’s league football.
Shamsunnahar J and Maria Manda each scored six goals, while Tohura Khatun struck a hat-trick to headline the extraordinary rout.
Earlier in the day, Police FC registered their first victory of the league, defeating Suddopuskorini Jubo Sporting Club 2–0. After losing their opening match to the Bangladesh Army team, Police FC took the lead in the 20th minute when Sanjida Akter finished a well-timed cross from the right flank with a powerful strike.
The lead was doubled in the 75th minute when a Suddopuskorini defender handled the ball inside the box. From the penalty spot, Irin Khatun calmly beat the goalkeeper to seal the win. Named Player of the Match, Sanjida said, “We played well but also missed many chances. We desperately needed the three points. As a senior player, I tried my best to give my maximum.”
In the day’s other fixture, Siraj Smriti Sangsad were held to a goalless draw by Bangladesh Ansar & VDP. The draw earned Ansar & VDP their first point of the season after starting their campaign with a 3–2 defeat to Suddopuskurini. Siraj Smriti, who had beaten Kacharipara Ekadosh 5–1 in their opening match, were unable to break through on Sunday. For Kacharipara, however, it was a day they would rather forget.
