The Election Commission (EC) is set to resume the National Identity Card (NID) correction services later this month, after the process had remained suspended due to election-related activities.

The information was confirmed on Thursday by ASM Humayun Kabir, director general of the National Identity Registration Wing.

He said that the tasks of updating the voter list and scrutinising candidates have already been completed.

“We have finished the voter list update and candidate verification processes. At present, the printing of postal ballots is underway. Once this printing work is completed by 18 January, we will immediately resume the NID correction services,” he said.

The resumption of the NID correction process is expected to provide relief to thousands of citizens who had been waiting for the service to restart.
