Stray bullet from Myanmar injures 2 Bangladeshis again

Two Bangladeshi children were injured being hit by a stray bullet during a heavy fighting between Arakan Army and Rohingya armed groups across Myanmar border.

The clashes took place on the Myanmar side, opposite to Kanajrpara area alongside the Naf River under Whykong union of Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf upazila around 11.30 AM on Tuesday.

The injured are Mohammad Sohel, 13, son of Mohammad Tofael, and Obaidullah, 15, son of Md Yunus, both residents of the same area.

According to the victims’ family members, the duo were fishing in the Naf River when a heavy gunfight ensued between the two Myanmar rival groups. After a while, stray bullets from the conflict hit them, leaving them wounded.

Being informed, locals rescued them and took to a nearby hospital where they recieving treatment.

Bangladesh Border Guard Battalion (BGB)-64 Commander Lt Colonel Md Johirul Islam the incident and stated that they have strengthen security measures in the and closely monitoring the situation.Earlier on January 11, a child named Afnan had sustained bullet wounds in the same way.
