114 RMG units shut, 54 of them under ‘no work no pay’

A total of 114 garment factories in the major industrial belts including Savar, Ashulia, and Gazipur have suspended operations amid ongoing labour protests.

Out of the 114, some 54 garment factories were announced closed for an indefinite period with ‘no work no pay’ according to the labour law provision of 13(1).

The rest of the 60 factories have announced holidays with pay, according to BGMEA.

According to the trade body, some 2,028 of its member units are open today (Wednesday) while workers in two units did not work even though they joined their respective units.
