Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on Sunday stated that he will meet the party leaders and activists in person very soon.
Addressing the biennial conference of BNP’s Rajshahi Metropolitan unit virtually, Tarique said, “Inshallah, I will see you face-to-face very soon.”He also expressed confidence in the party’s strong public support and emphasized the responsibility of party members to uphold that trust.
“The responsibility to maintain this trust lies with us, not just with the people. I urge everyone to stay united as we prepare to rebuild the country by earning the people’s confidence and preserving that trust through national reconstruction,” Tarique said.
He acknowledged the recent ousting of the autocratic regime but stressed that the focus must now shift to establishing people’s governance and restoring political rights, primarily through free and fair elections.

“The fundamental way to ensure political rights is to secure the people’s right to vote. The interim government appears to be moving gradually toward this goal,” he added.
Highlighting the significance of the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election, Tarique noted that the polls, scheduled before Ramadan in February, will mark the first step in restoring citizens’ rights.
“The interim government has announced that the election will be held before the upcoming Ramadan. This election will be the starting point for reinstating the people’s rights,” he said.
Tarique also vowed that if BNP assumes power, it will pursue international legal avenues to secure Bangladesh’s rightful share of water from transboundary rivers like the Padma.“We will not hesitate to take the matter to international courts if needed to protect Bangladesh’s water rights,” he stated.

Criticizing the previous Awami League government, Tarique accused the administration of dismantling electoral systems, undermining the judiciary, damaging the economy, and engaging in widespread corruption under the guise of mega projects.

He also condemned the state of the healthcare system, alleging it was designed to force citizens to seek medical treatment abroad.
We face many challenges, but BNP leaders and activists must come together to overcome them,” he concluded.
